I am a licensed mental health counselor with a passion for learning and incorporating a variety of techniques into my treatment approach. I received my master's degree from Upper Iowa University in 2018 and my internship was at MercyOne Horizons substance abuse and mental health center. I believe this has given me an added perspective into the struggle that clients and their families face on a daily basis. I spent a few years working in community mental health serving clients with schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. I also have a special interest in career counseling, hoarding disorder, and working victims of narcissistic personality disorder.
I have lived in Iowa most of my life and am a wife and mother of a large blended family. I understand the issues that new step-parents face and can offer added support during the process of joining two established families together. I spent my childhood on a farm and enjoy the outdoors, fur babies of all types, camping, hiking, and fishing. When I am not outside I spend my time playing video games with my children, working on home improvement projects with my husband, and working with animal rescue and rehabilitation fostering as needed.
...in tailoring therapy to fit the individual's needs. I will utilize many different therapeutic modalities, interventions, and strategies and am not afraid to mix things up as needed to achieve the best possible outcome for my clients.
