I graduated from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine with my Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in 2013. Afterwards, I completed a 12 month Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Through my career I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including inpatient, emergency psychiatry, crisis stabilization, outpatient clinic, and developmental disabilities programing. I have eagerly worked with family practice providers and therapist to improve patient outcomes.
I first was introduced to psychiatry while spending a year abroad as an exchange student in France. My host father was a psychiatrist and gave me a tour of an inpatient facility. He explained that his primary goal was to reduce patient's disabling symptoms in order to obtain a life worth living. I was instantly intrigued and forever inspired.
..... is to maximize the quality of life through thoughtful, collaborative care. This is achieved by open communication with the health care team and by empowering patients to take an active role in their treatment decisions.
In my free time I read science fiction novels, Ursula K Le Guin is a favorite Author. I like watching history documentaries, and I also enjoy traveling and meeting new people.
